Privacy, safety and security with OOTD budgeting
.
Regardless of how knowledgeable we are about using the web and how it works, one of the first thoughts that comes to mind regarding doing any kind of personal finance on-line and over the internet, is about privacy, safety and security. These considerations were central in the early stages of the OOTD website’s design and development, and as such they were identified as two distinct considerations, Privacy on one hand, Safety and Security on the other.
.
PRIVACY
The approach to privacy at OOTD online budgeting is simple, you give out nothing and you risk nothing, namely you do not give out your private identity and you do not give out access to your bank accounts, therefore you take zero chance of ever having your personal identity or access to your bank accounts misused or falling into the wrong hands.
This is achieved by using only your e-mail address to create your budgeting account and maintain working communication with you. Since all the OOTD website has about you is the e-mail address which can be anonymous, your entire budget information is connected to your anonymous e-mail address and nothing more, and since the OOTD website knows nothing about your personal identity, all your budgeting information is nothing more than meaningless numbers and category names that the OOTD website can never relate to your personal identity, nor could anyone hacking into the OOTD server or even stealing it in the worst case scenario.
This approach to privacy allows you to enjoy all the benefits and conveniences of free online budgeting without ever risking exposure of your personal identity or access to your bank accounts.
.
SAFETY & SECURITY
The other consideration regarding safety and security is about how secure and safe is your browsing at the OOTD website in terms of protecting your password and e-mail address from theft while you enter and submit these on various pages around the OOTD website.
This is a concern of course because if your password and e-mail ID get stolen, someone else could log into your budgeting account and change or erase your valuable information. They still would have no idea who you are, but they could compromise the integrity of your budgeting information.
To address this risk, the OOTD website is using SSL secure pages, the Internet standard browsing security protocol for all the pages where you enter and submit your account credentials (password and e-mail ID).
After the creation of your new account where secure pages are used by default to protect your submitted credentials, each time you log in back to your OOTD budget account, on the log-in page you will notice the secure log-in option at the bottom right hand side. If you don’t care about a few extra seconds for your log in time in the name of security, click this option to log in securely.
If you have any questions about your privacy and security as a user at the OOTD budgeting website, you may e-mail us directly to:Â support@myexp.org
